- Look at the whole plant: roots, stem, leaves and fruit.
- Note the pattern: scattered plants, patches or the whole field.
- Compare symptoms with common diseases for the crop (for example blight, wilt or black rot).
- Take photos and samples to an extension officer for confirmation.
- Remove infected plants and rotate crops to limit spread.
Verify locally: figures, varieties and product choices differ by altitude, season and variety. Confirm with your county agricultural extension officer or KALRO before acting.
