Farm record keeping

Records show what is making money.

  1. Record planting dates, varieties and areas planted.
  2. Write down inputs: seed, manure, fertilizer, chemicals and costs.
  3. Record labour, water use, pest and disease problems.
  4. Record harvest quantities, grades and sale prices.
  5. Review each season and compare crops to plan better.

Verify locally: figures, varieties and product choices differ by altitude, season and variety. Confirm with your county agricultural extension officer or KALRO before acting.
