Sustainable agriculture

Farming that protects soil, water and the future.

  1. Rotate crops and add organic matter to build soil health.
  2. Plant along contours and use cover or mulch to reduce erosion on slopes.
  3. Use water efficiently, for example with drip irrigation.
  4. Use integrated pest management and avoid unnecessary spraying.
  5. Protect streams and trees, and manage waste responsibly.

Verify locally: figures, varieties and product choices differ by altitude, season and variety. Confirm with your county agricultural extension officer or KALRO before acting.
