Simple farm record keeping

What to write down to know whether your farm is making money.

Published

You do not need software to start. A notebook is enough.

Write the date, crop, area planted, inputs used and what they cost, then harvest amounts and prices.

After one season you will see which crops give the best return for the effort.

Verify locally: figures, varieties and product choices differ by altitude, season and variety. Confirm with your county agricultural extension officer or KALRO before acting.
